Meet Our Therapists
Lacey DeCaire McCabe, MSW, RSW Katsítsawaks
I am passionate about helping people reach mental wellness. I believe that every client is unique with their own circumstances and needs. With my support, individuals are encouraged to develop healthy relationships, set boundaries, and address past trauma in order to live a fulfilling life. With my extensive knowledge and expertise, clients can achieve balanced thinking and psychological well-being.
I started my career as a nurse, where I first learned of my calling to help others. I soon realized that I was made for a different sector of healthcare and pursued an Honours Degree in Gerontology. From there, I earned a Master's in Social Work from the University of Toronto.
I have worked in the Public Health Sector for over 20 years. For the past 15+ years, I have offered psychotherapy, crisis counselling, assessments, suicide prevention, advocacy, and education for those who suffer from moderate to severe mental health issues. I also co-facilitated a men’s emotions management group for 10 years, providing support to men who wouldn’t have reached out for help.
My practice focuses on helping people work through trauma and overwhelming life experiences in their many forms. This can include painful childhood memories, the effects of unhealthy or broken relationships, workplace stress or burnout, and the impacts of sexual harm. I also support those who carry vicarious or occupational trauma—such as caregivers, healthcare workers, or first responders—who are affected by what they endure and are exposed to in the workplace.
In addition, I specialize in supporting clients with ADHD by helping them recognize symptoms, navigate assessments with healthcare practitioners, and explore treatment options and coping strategies. I am committed to creating safe and culturally grounded care for Indigenous clients, drawing on my own Kanien’kehá:ka identity, and I have extensive experience working with men’s mental health, including providing space for those who may not otherwise reach out for support.
I am a proud Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) woman from Wahta First Nation, part of the Haudenosaunee (People of the Longhouse). My Kanien’kehá:ka name is Katsítsawaks, given to me by an Elder in my community. Over the last several years, I have reconnected with my culture and want to provide support not only to my community in Wahta but also to Indigenous people across Ontario.
We’re so glad you’ve found your way here. At Lacey DeCaire McCabe Counselling, our team of dedicated practitioners is ready to walk alongside you in your healing journey. We look forward to connecting you with the therapist who best fits your needs and supporting you in taking the next steps toward wellness.
Cassie McMullen, BA, HBSW, RSW
I grew up in Bracebridge, and my experiences as a young person first inspired me to pursue a career focused on making a positive impact in the lives of children and youth. After completing my BA, I held a meaningful volunteer position supporting homeless and at-risk youth through a drop-in centre program. This experience deepened my resolve to build a meaningful career in the field, which led me to pursue a Child and Youth Worker (now Child and Youth Care) Advanced Diploma.
Upon returning to Muskoka, I began working in the social service sector before transitioning to the mental health field. Over the past 10 years, I have dedicated my career to supporting children, youth, and families through the Public Sector. I am deeply committed to helping young people navigate life’s challenges, whether they are coping with anxiety, depression, addictions, or the stress of changing family dynamics.
I went on to complete an Honours Bachelor of Social Work and bring extensive experience to my practice. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard and valued. My work is grounded in attachment theory and a trauma-informed lens, and I integrate a variety of approaches—including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing—to meet each client where they are and tailor my support to their unique needs.
I recognize that a young person’s well-being is often connected to their family environment, so I also incorporate family work into my practice. By fostering open communication and stronger connections, I help families work together toward healthier, more supportive relationships.
Dedicated and compassionate, I specialize in empowering children, teens, and young adults to build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and move forward with confidence and hope.
