Meet the Team

Lacey DeCaire McCabe, MSW, RSW

I am passionate about helping people reach mental wellness. I believe that every client is unique with their own circumstances and needs. With my support, individuals are encouraged to develop healthy relationships, set boundaries and treat past trauma in order to live a fulfilling life. With my extensive knowledge and expertise, clients are able to achieve balanced thinking and psychological wellbeing

I started my career as a nurse where I first learned of my calling to help others. I soon realized that I was made for a different sector of healthcare and pursued an Honours Degree in Gerontology. From there I earned a Masters in Social Work from the University of Toronto.

I have worked in the Public Health Sector for 18 years. For the past 13 years, I have offered psychotherapy, crisis counselling, assessments, suicide prevention, advocacy, and education for those who suffer from moderate to severe mental health issues. I also co-facilitated a men’s emotions management group for 10 years, where I provided support to men who wouldn’t have reached out for help.

As a Social Worker and former nurse, I can appreciate the unfaltering dedication and service that our front line workers have provided, especially in the post-pandemic era. I have worked alongside Nurses, Police Officers, Paramedics, Firefighters and Correctional Officers and will specialize in offering counselling to them. With a passion for and expertise in treating trauma, I hope to improve the mental health of our community’s essential workers.

I am also a proud, indigenous, Mohawk woman and over the last few years I have reconnected with my culture and want to provide support not only to my community at Wahta but indigenous people all over Ontario.

Welcome to Lacey DeCaire McCabe Counselling! We are ready to take on new challenges. I look forward to meeting with you to further discuss your needs.

Rachel Marmer, MSc Student, Psychotherapy

Hi there! I’m Rachel, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as a student therapist on a mission to make a positive impact on the mental health and well-being of individuals at LDM Counselling.

Currently, I am pursuing a Masters of Science in Psychotherapy at McMaster University with ambitions of registering with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) upon completion of my degree. Throughout my academic journey, I have had an opportunity to delve into various therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, and emotion-focused therapy.

With an Honours Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Guelph, I’ve delved into the intricacies of the human mind and how it shapes our experiences. My academic path has provided me with a solid foundation in understanding the biological underpinnings of mental health, and I’m eager to integrate this knowledge into my future practice.

Having grown up in the Muskoka region, I have developed a deep appreciation for the unique challenges individuals face in rural communities as well as the importance of mental health awareness in these settings. I am passionate about the transformative power of therapy and believe that every individual is capable of fostering resilience in the face of adversity.

Life is a journey, and I'm honored to be a part of yours. I am excited to embark on this journey with you as I continue learning, growing and refining my skills as a student therapist.
